For recycling questions or supplies, cat/dog licenses, marriage license applications, death certificates, food licensing and inspections, please call (908) 769-2907.

The Borough does have a local ordinance regarding leash control for dogs and removal of feces. Rabies vaccination and licensing is required for dogs and cats. Ord. # 382, 55.1, 5.2, 5.3.1

Animal Control Services: Plainfield Area Humane Society

The Community Visiting Nurse Association of Somerville is offering a free health clinic for all non-insured children residing in North Plainfield from 0-18 years old. The clinic is open the last Wednesday of each month at the Vermeule Mansion . To make an appointment, dial 908-725-9355 and speak with Joanne.

Pet Licensing – It is very important to get your pet licensed. Licensing provides an immediate confirmation that the pet is vaccinated against Rabies and can assist in returning your pet should it become lost. Licensing fees also support spay/neutering clinics. To register dogs: Please provide current rabies vaccination record and spay/neuter information. Also required is owner info, driver’s license, pet Information. To register cats: Same as for dogs. Fees: Spayed/neutered dogs: $19.20 – non spayed/neutered - $22.20 Spayed/neutered cats: $10.00 – non spayed/neutered - $13.00 A free Rabies Clinic is offered once a year – It is typically held on the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (at the discretion of the Vet), North Plainfield Firehouse – 8 Lincoln Place (Borough Hall) Please visit or call the Health Department for more information.
