Efforts to identify pedestrian continue |

North Plainfield Police Department June 2, 2008, Press Release Chief William Parenti North Plainfield Police Chief William G. Parenti announced efforts to positively establish the identity of a male pedestrian, fatally injured in an automobile accident late last week are continuing, and all leads are actively being pursued. According to Chief Parenti the North Plainfield Police Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Somerset Street and Route 22 west bound, shortly after 9:40 pm, on Thursday night, May 29. Upon arrival, police found a male pedestrian on the roadway with severe injuries and massive head trauma. He was pronounced deceased at the scene through paramedics from Muhlenberg Hospital. It appears from the investigation that as the victim attempted to cross the highway he was struck by more then one vehicle. Several motorists had pulled over at the scene and were subsequently interviewed by detectives from the North Plainfield Police Department and the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. An investigation of the accident scene was conducted by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team. At this time no motorists have been charged in connection with the incident. However, efforts to positively establish the victim’s identity in order to make contact with his next of kin are ongoing. Chief Parenti said property found on the victim; his fingerprints; and surveillance video from various area businesses are being reviewed as part of the investigation. Chief Parenti is asking for the public’s help #333300in identifying the victim. The police have a tentative name of Juan Trista Alberto with an associated address on East 7th Street in Plainfield. Police are also trying to determine if either of the attached photos are the victim.
